Postdoctoral Associate - Bunimovich Lab

 

Postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Yuri Bunimovich, MD, PhD. We seek motivated postdoctoral candidates interested in basic sciences and translational medicine to work on projects in neuroimmunology, cancer biology, and cutaneous pathophysiology. The selected candidate will lead highly innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research projects on the role of neuroglia/neurons in cutaneous oncology, and the significance of ferroptosis in skin diseases.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, or a closely related field
  • Ability to work collaboratively and be interested in working with individuals from many different backgrounds, including clinicians and basic scientists
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are an advantage

Assistant Professor 

 

The Department of Dermatology is seeking an Assistant Professor outside the tenure stream in the research area of dermatology.  This position requires that the applicant conduct independent projects of basic immunology research in the areas relevant to dermatology.  The responsibilities of this position will be to conduct basic and translational research in the areas relevant to investigative dermatology, with the goal of translational development of novel vaccines and immunotherapeutic strategies, including the development of novel skin targeted vaccines against pathogens including COVID-19 and skin cancers. The individual will be expected to acquire external competitive funding to support the research projects carried out in this position.  The individual will also be expected to produce publications in peer-reviewed journals, and to make collaborations with other investigators.

Postdoctoral Associate - Falo Lab

 

A NIH funded research laboratory (PI: Louis D. Falo, MD, PhD) in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, research-oriented individual at the postdoctoral level.  The interest of the lab is to study cutaneous biology and immune function, while leveraging that evolving understanding to develop new skin-targeted strategies to modulate local and systemic immune responses. Projects are flexible but must focus on skin immunology and ideally generate the foundation for the candidate’s future independent career.  

A Ph.D. in Immunology with experience in working with mouse models, cell culture, cellular and Flow cytometry-based assays is required. Experience with bioinformatics is desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Eligibility to apply for NIH Training grants would also be a distinct advantage.

Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist Faculty

 

The Department of Dermatology is seeking dermatologists and/or dermatopathologists with strong clinical skills and a sincere interest in teaching to join our full-time faculty at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels.  These are unique academic positions that provide protected time for efforts in resident and medical student education and scholarly activities.  Clinical duties include supervision of resident clinics and participation in the department’s faculty practice plan.  The department’s outpatient facilities include offices at the main campus of the UPMC Health System, and satellite facilities that provide a private practice setting.  Dermatopathology duties include sign-out, teaching, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
